Introduction
Today, cities face drastic changes in the social environment. If cities are to increase their presence in the world, it is essential to raise their value and attract people, goods, money, companies, and information from around the world. Accordingly, some cities have been reorganizing their main streets into public spaces open to a wider range of users. One such city is the City of Osaka, which is taking the initiative to revitalize its Midosuji street.
Against this backdrop, the City of Osaka will host the World Street Congress OSAKA 2024, bringing together the like-minded cities of Chicago, Melbourne, New York, and Paris, which are taking initiatives for their main streets to increase their allure, to discuss the vision of people-centered streets in society in the future.
Anyone interested in learning about innovative initiatives to “change cities from streets” is welcome to participate.
